Six Million Dollar Weirdo - 6MDW
This Great and fun mexican band started in 2005 and to find
their own niche in the recent mexican indie-rock explosion they combined Glam
-
Synth - Punk -Pop - Electro, and they found their own style in this thing they
call - Bionic Pop.
Yes, they're very unpretentious and absolutely no snotty indie-bores, these
guys. Something of a mexican version of the legendary old scottish
70/80's band The Rezillos/Revillos with an electronica twist to it maybe? The
members are involved in many other bands and musical projects:
Dr. Bona Bonson: also El Pan and producing Las Ultrasónicas
etc. - guitar/production (above right, second left)
Abulon - A-Boo/Ricardo Flores: since nearly 20 years in Mexico
well known band Las Victimas del Doctor Cerebro, also in Los Abominables
and Los Automaticos - a great singer (above left, in middle)
Zette (also Los Abominables - See below) the GORGEOUS
drummer/electronic drums with her (often) mohican hair drums/electronic drums.
Real name Zette Agreda (?) who started in tough all-female rock group Violenta
(record Demo 1999) above left, at right and above right, at left
Tammy (Los Abominables too) on bass (above left, at left).
The original bassplayer Diana Wolf (above right, at right) left in 2007.
Their records on the NoiseLab label were: Their selftitled debut
EP in 2006 with 4 songs - Synthetic 6, Brain Police, Six Million Dollar Weirdo
and the Hit Horror Amor (listen to it on Youtube, follow the
link on Mexico page). 2nd EP The Rise (and fall of the 3d mind)
had 5 tracks -
Love Transmissions, Sextermination, Acid Stallion, Non-Human Love and Weirdo
Rock.
3d EP 2008 Fallout with Replicas, Robot Malo, Veneno, Hot Pink
Passion and Manda tu cerebro a marte (was given away free on the net)
Listen to their great hit - Horror Amor Follow the Link to Youtube - Horror Amor
Listen to the band rehearse their great Love Transmissions in
a very small room - Follow
the link to Youtube - Love Transmissions
this is what punk spirit and "great" rockmusic's about
- and it can be found in a mexican garage, and in other garages around the world
Los Abominables
(The group formerly known as 6MDW)
Visit
Abulon at www.myspace.com/abulon_victimasfans
and see for yourself
But... I'm not sure if
6MDW actually exist any more? Abulon's/A-Boo's Abominables project with Zette,
Tammy and 2 other girls may be
the new incarnation of 6MDW. If so, they are even kitschier/trashier and more
electronic than 6MDW, but still pretty cool though
And for no special reason..... Zette.
The Cool and Gorgeous Mexican Rock Baterista, she
could be Silvia Superstar's mexican sister
(in the hotness department) or scottish Rezillos punk legend Fay Fife reborn
as a drummer (in Zette outfit and at right at right)
