I remember when almost every South Korean crime thriller or crime drama
were good. When the Golden era of wild, exciting and genre defying
films (like Save the Green Planet, The Quiet Family, The Foul King,
Dasepo Naughty Girls and I'm a Cyborg but That's OK) and of, actually

great romantic comedies, were over .... then, at least you could trust
the Korean film industry of cranking out high quality crime movies.
They still do, but not as often as before, the duds are creeping in,
Netflix type of crime movies, films that leave you angry and empty inside
with a feeling of having wasted 2 hours of your life. You can not blindly
buy a Korean crime thriller anymore as you could before.
Dark Figure of Crime is high quality all through, with
great acting and lots of old time police procedure and investigating.
          It's not action packed
but because of that maybe an even better crime thriller. The acting
is top notch and Kim Yoon-seok is fantastic, just as
he was in the 2007 crime
thriller classic - The Chaser, one of my all time favourite Korean films.
Director Kim Tae-gyun has made a ton of films and i've only seen one
of them (i think) - 2001 Volcano High, a sci fi action and another favourite.

        The Excavation
Busan narcotics cop Kim Hyung-min (Kim
Yoon-seok) is about to talk to an informer about something that the
man took part in 6-7 years earlier,
when crime cops storm the place and arrests the man for murdering his
          girlfriend.
Three months later the man, Kang Tae-oh (Ju Ji-hoon)
calls him from jail and wants Hyung-min to visit him as he has something
          to tell him.
There are 7 others he has killed and chopped up and he only wants to
give information about this to Hyung-min, and no-one else.
Somehow, Kang has taken to Hyung-min and Hyung-min has
to sit and listen, disgusted, because he's a cop. He has to transfer
          to Busan's
Homicide Crime section, from being a narcotics cop, to lead the investigation
of where the bodies possibly can be buried.
But, there's always a But in a thriller like this, No.1 on Kang's supposed
Kill List is found and he's alive and well. Hyung-min starts to wonder
what Kang's scheme could possibly be ? The film is based on a real murder
          case
The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen with
korean audio DD 5.1 and with english subtitles and a trailer
