Takashi Miike once was my favourite Film director (and I still like him) and the maker of unique movies. They were
wild, unhinged and very personal and he created almost countless of these sensational Miike-esque films.
His Yakuza movies obliterated the rules of this gangster genre, and with films as DOA Trilogy, Bird People in China,
Gozu, Visitor Q, Audition, Ishi the Killer and The Happiness of the Katakuris he made unique films in his completely
own genre. A Wave of fantastic films from an unstoppable Genius. But nothing lasts forever, and with some crappy
telephone J-Horror he started making more mainstream orientated films, still often interesting but the The Golden
Miike Era was over and the beautiful and wild Miike-esque are only seen in moments now and then.

But, it's normal that groundbreaking film directors have their Golden Eras, as: Dario Argento 1970-1987 Opera, Brian
De Palma with his 1970's on to 1984 Body Double, David Cronenberg 1975 Shivvers to 1986 The Fly.
I have to accept it, the old Golden Era Miike is no more, he starts to look like a copy of his own epigone, Sion Sono.

I didn't like this film - If you're Hardcore Miike fan and like everything he makes please stop reading, Spoilers too

In this Turd of a movie Miike stays within his so beloved (also by Sono) High School genre. Time to move on Miike.
There's a problem with school shootings (especially in the US) and a film director could seriously take on the subject
or he could satirize the subject making fun of it, as having the teachers doing the shooting, as already have been done
in some US 1980's somewhat apocalyptic trashy but fun B movies.
But is Miike funny in "Lessons of the Evil" ? No. Is he satirical? No. Is the film scary? No.
Sure, Miike has the right to make whatever he wants, to provoke maybe. Possibly his japanese teenage audience find
this film to be scary or even funny? But i found it tedious to sit through, and this film is my least favourite Miike film
along with the awful Tarantino hipster influenced "Sukiyaki Western Django"

The Story of the Turd:

Mr. Hasumi (Hideaki Ito) is one of the most popular teachers of the school, he's handsome, dynamic and really seems
to genuinely care about his students. When he after about 30 minutes of the film suddenly tongue kisses a girl student
who's fallen in love with him and also starts having sex with her, you start getting the feel that he's the Bad Guy.
When rumours start floating around in the school about mysterious deaths ocurring in Mr. Hasumi's last school, he
starts to murder his teacher colleagues and the students. The whole second part of the film consists of Hasumi walking
around instoppable and with a stupid grin on his face killing everyone in the school .... Zzzzzz .... Snore.

With a Shotgun and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of shotgun shells he calmly walks around the school killing the
screaming and panic stricken students. It goes on and on and on .... and the 2 hours, 8 minutes and 55 seconds feels
like an eternity to endure. But the worst may be the text at the end - To be Continued - Nooooo!
det håller på och håller på och filmens 2 timmar och 8 minuter 55 sekunder känns som minst det dubbla.
