vs.
Carlos Aured (1937-2008)
made 4 beloved horror movies in the 1970's with Paul Naschy: The 1973
Horror Rises from the Tomb (El espanto
de la tumba), 1973 Curse of the Devil (El retorno de Walpurgis), 1973
La venganza de la momia (The Mummy's Revenge) and in 1974 my
favourite Spanish giallo The Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll (Los ojos azules
de la muñeca rota).
After the Death of Franco in November 1975 and the relaxation of film
censoring Aured belonged to the group of director's that tried to
adapt to new trends, and he started making sex movies and comedies. He
has Lina Romay in two of his sex films, and one of them were the
1981 Apocalipsis Sexual with Ajita Wilson (more about the film on Horror
page 3). How did our horror director manage with this`task?
Znooooore, Zzzzzz, even though there are copious amounts of nudity and
softcore sex in it the film is painfully un-sexy and boring
The Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll
is a Good Good film - Apocalipsis Sexual is a Bad Bad
film, and to be avoided

Leon Klimovsky (1906-1996)
was born in Argentina, moved to Spain and had a very long career as a
film director. He made films in
almost every genre as dramas, westerns, comedies and sci-fi, but he's
most known for the Horror movies he made in the 1970's, that
magic decennium, and for all his co-operations with Paul Naschy, at least
fiveof them.
I want to see every horror film he made these years and especially his
late one's as the 1975 giallo "A Dragonfly for each Corpse",
1976 sci-fi horror Ultimo deseo and his 1978 slasher giallo Violación
fatal/Trauma with Agata Lys.
Above left we see Paul Naschy in front of Mirta Miller in 1973 La Rebelion
de las muertas, and above right we see busty redhead
Charo Soriano on the DVD sleeve of 1972 spanish italian co-production
La Casa de las Chivas (The House of Goats).
Leon Klimovsky, a golden shimmer around his
horror films, so why wouldn't a drama about the people in a Tavern during
the Spanish
Civil war be cool, and with lusty redhead Soriano, scream queen Maria
Kosti and gialli favourite Simon Andreau in it ?
A feisty and lustful woman, Petra (Charo Soriano) runs a Tavern with a
man and his sexy daughter Trini (Maria Kosti) in a village
during the Spanish Civil war, when a group of Republican soldiers arrives,
including poetry reading Juan (Andreau), and they
have sex with the women and they talk, a lot. This DVD had no subtitles
so i've no idea about what. A snore fest to be avoided
La Rebelion de las muertas is
a Good Bad film - La Casa de las Chivas is a Bad Bad
film

vs.
Francisco Lara Polop or
Paco Lara (1932-2008) was a Spanish B movie hack director who worked in
many genres, drama, crime and
comedy but almost always with some sexual, exploitation slant to them.
I've seen 3 of his film and 2 of them were Bad Bad and the 3rd
"Christina y la reconversion sexual", 1984 was Good Bad and
that because of the Lovely, smart and funny Jewel Shepard. This Sex
adventure is a riot, hysterically trashy and fun and like an Emmanuelle
movie on LSD or something
Polop's boring 1973
drama "Cebo para una adolescente" (The Secretary)
about a middle-aged company executive (Philippe Leroy) and
his creepy love affair with his young secretary Maribel however has one
good point to it - the almost otherworldly beautiful italian
Ornella Muti as the mistress. The Spanish DVD did not have any subtitles
so i must have misssed the plot, but it looked boring and
i only looked at Muti anyway, so. But Philippe Leroy was good as her horny
dirtbag of a married boss, seducing the girl for business
trip sex without a thoght of divorcing his wife. Ornella Muti was only
18 years old when this film was made.
This was Polop's 2nd directed film and his next to last was to be ....
Above: Ornella Muti and Philippe Leroy
Christina y la reconversion sexual
(Christina) from 1984 with 80's Scream Queen favourite Jewel Shepard in
the main role. I Love
Jewel and you can read more about this film and about her on my Cult &
Classics Page 2 .... just scroll down on this page.
Christina is a hilarious Third grade rip-off of the Emanuelle series and
the stuff that dreams are made of for every trashfilm lover.
Cebo para una adolescente
is a Bad Bad film - Christina is a Good
Bad film
Above: Paco Lara's 1980 La Patria del Rata
Yeah, and i almost forgot his 1980 Crime
Action "La Patria del Rata" about a desperate bankrobber (Danilo
Mattei) who chased by
the police holes up with a hostage, a kid suffering from diabetes. There's
a pretty exciting car chase through the streets of Madrid
at the beginning and there are some interesting views from the poor suburbs
of Madrid before this film starts to lose it's steam.
Blatant inconsistencies regarding the clumsy police procedure drags the
film down. La Patria del Rata is a Bad Bad film.

Ignacio F. Iquino (1910-1994)
is one of my absolute favourite Spanish Trash Cinema directors. The Catalan
Iquino is not that well known
compared to other directors from The Golden Spanish era of filmmaking
(appr. 1965-1985). He directed 87 films and wrote over a hundred
says IMDB and directed his first film as early as in 1934. Iquino worked
in many different genres, with paella westerns in the 1960's and
early 1970's and as Carlos Aured and Paco Lara he started doing sex movies
after the death of Franco in November 1975.
The Catalan King of Trash
I've only seen 4 movies of Iquino and every
one of them has been Great to Good viewings. He only made one horror,
Secta Siniestra in 1982,
and that film is just Amazing (read more about this film on my Horror
Page 1) and my horror favourite watch of the year 2019.
vs.
Catalan Iquino made his films around Barcelona
if possible and his 1978 expoitation crime drama "Los violadores
del amanecer" is a very
intense and nasty ... and disturbingly well made sleaze film (Read more
about this film on my Horror page 2).
I've seen 2 of his sex movies, the 1978 Emmanuelle y Carol" (read
more about this film on my Cult & Classics page 2) and the 1982 "Los
Sueños
húmedos de Patrizia" with the great Concha Valero in it and
both were actually sexy and entertaining to watch, especially the Emmanuelle
one.
Secta Siniestra (Bloody
Sect), Los violadores del amanecer (Rapists at Dawn),
Emmanuelle y Carol and Los sueños húmedos
de Patrizia
were all of them examples of the glorious category Good Bad Spanish
trash movies, and it can't get better than that for every fan of Psychotronic
film, not even a Good Good Spanish film - as Good Bad is better ... or
at least, more entertaining. GOD bless Spanish 1970's Trash Cinema.
