Dana Andrews and Gene Tierney re-united again after Laura, and with
Genus director Otto Preminger again also,
so what could go wrong? I'm not sure if anything has gone wrong but
as i remember, there's a long time since i
saw this film maybe 10-15 years ago at the least, i thought that the
film was lacking something. No magic in this
one, sorry. Maybe Gene Tierny had started to feel really bad at this
time? Maybe i should watch it again?
Dana Andrews, he's one of the most profilic actors in
the Film Noir genre, and he's good as always when playing
the violent proned cop Mark Dixon. He's full of personal inferiority
issues and of hatred against criminals, due to
him being the son of a gangster. Mark has recently been demoted after
having accidently killed a suspect and
when investigating the death of a Tycoon, he accidently causes someone
to die again. He tries to hide what has
happened and he falls in love with the widow (Gene Tierney) of the dead
man.
The film is presented in 4:3 fullscreen original ratio,
black & white, english mono or stereo audio with english subs.
Extras: an audio commentary track with film noir expert Eddie Muller,
a trailer, a gallery, text sheet
